Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 6, 2026

Development Over Time ("DOT," "we," "us") is operated by Development Over Time LLC. This policy explains what information we collect through the DOT platform, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. If a learner using DOT is under 13, our Children's Privacy Notice also applies and takes precedence for that account.

Information we collect

Account information: full name, email address, date of birth, and a securely hashed password. For minor accounts, we also collect a parent or guardian's email to obtain verifiable consent.

Learning activity: course enrollments, lesson progress, assignment submissions, assessment results, competency and mastery records, and credentials earned.

Content you create: goals, projects, reviews, messages you send through DOT, and anything you post to the Community feed.

Organization data: if your account is linked to a school or organization, your facilitator, org admin, or platform admin may see enrollment, progress, and credential information scoped to that organization.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics. The only cookies DOT sets are functional session cookies needed to keep you signed in.

How we use information

To operate the platform: deliver courses and lessons, track and report progress, enable communication between learners, facilitators, and parents, and issue credentials you've earned. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.

Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent personal information. It is visible to people with a legitimate reason to see it — a linked parent/guardian, the facilitators of courses you're enrolled in, and (for organization accounts) your school's admin. Content you post to the Community feed is visible to other signed-in DOT users.

We use a small number of service providers to operate DOT, who process data only on our behalf: a database and application hosting provider, and an email provider used to deliver account, parent-verification, and message notifications. We do not permit these providers to use your data for their own purposes.

Credential verification pages (like the one your credential links to) show only the credential itself — the standard, mastery level, score, and issue date — never your name or contact information.

Blockchain credentials

DOT is building toward on-chain credential verification on the Polygon network. As of this writing, credential records are stored in our database and are not yet anchored on a public blockchain; any credential not yet on-chain is clearly marked "pending" wherever it's displayed. We'll update this policy when on-chain issuance goes live.

How long we keep information

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see below), we delete your education records, submissions, messages, and other content within our systems, with the exception of records we're required to keep for legal or safety reasons (for example, an immutable log of parental consent decisions for minor accounts).

Your rights

International users

DOT is operated from the United States. If you access DOT from outside the US, your information will be processed in the US. We're working toward additional protections for users in the EU/EEA and UK (including a clear legal basis for processing and data export/erasure tooling); if you're contacting us from one of those regions with a privacy request in the meantime, email us at the address below and we'll handle it manually.

Security

Passwords are stored using industry-standard one-way hashing (bcrypt) — we never store your password in plain text. We limit access to personal information to what's needed to operate the platform.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and, where required, notify you directly.
